 Notable Features & Updates

Model History

The 3400 Express was introduced for the 1997 model year. She was the largest boat to date that Pursuit had built. The boats were produced at the Tiara factory in Holland, MI. (Tiara and Pursuit are both part of S-2 Yachts)The production run of the boat was 8 years and ended with the 2004 model year. While the hull design remained the same during the boat's production, the deck layout did change. From 1997 through 1999 model years the boat featured a centerline helm, dual L-shaped settee and a companionway offset to starboard. From the 2000 model year till the end of production, the helm was to starboard with wet bar behind, a single L-shaped settee to port, and the companionway on centerline. The centerline helm arrangement is generally considered to be the better fishing layout with the offset helm the better cruising arrangement.

 Construction

Pursuit uses premium polyester and vinylester resins along with the finest in E-glass knitted fiberglass cloth in the layup of their products. The 3400's hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline and is cored with Baltek balsa core in the hull sided above the waterline. The hull does have moderate prop pockets for reduced draft and a more efficient angle of attack for the propeller. The stringers are made of a synthetic foam, for reduced weight, completely encapsulated in fiberglass and are installed while the hull is still in the mold. The deck layup is similar to the hull's but with the balsa coring used to stiffen the walking areas of the deck. The entire boat is hand-laid to the highest standards.

 Vessel Walk Thru

The cabin is entered on centerline and down three steps. The head is aft on port, with the galley forward. Opposite the galley, there dinette to starboard with a beautiful teak hi-lo table with brass inlay. The dinette does convert to a double berth. There is an island queen berth in the bow with a large storage area beneath. At the foot of the berth, port and stbd , are hanging and storage lockers. The cabin is finished to a very high standard in beautiful teak and features a solid teak and maple sole. Pursuit sets the standard when it comes to interior fit and finish. There is a flat panel TV mount on a swivel, fwd to port.

Manufacturer Provided Description
The Pursuit 3400 Express is the flagship of company's fleet. In this 3400, fishing prowess is equaled by pure luxury and cruising performance. Of course, that only adds to the fishability, enabling this boat to go farther faster and in greater comfort in pursuit of trophies. The modified deep-V entry and 12-foot, 9-inch beam give this boat a strong, fuel-efficient hull that delivers great stability, precise handling, and a soft, dry ride. Within that proven hull, the 3400 Express was completely redesigned for the year 2000. There are three different deck plans. One is designed for all-out fishing, another is optimized for cruising and entertaining, while a third strikes a balance between fishing and cruising. The fishing package contains large fish boxes in the transom and the floor, and bait and tackle drawer storage in the lower cockpit. The fish and cruise option replaces the kill box with fold-down transom seating, and the cruise configuration complements the transom seat with more than five-and-a-half feet of aft-facing upholstered seating. The accommodations below are spacious and thoughtfully laid out. The generous salon sleeps four comfortably and the efficient galley features a sink, a stove, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The fabrics, detailing, and standard solid teak and holly floor create a warm, traditional look throughout.
